LanWhisper

Local voice typing that just works.

Simple setup. Nothing leaves your network. If you have a faster computer on the same network, that one will do all the data processing.

Free. No account, no subscription. Linux coming soon.

Magic install

No terminal, dependency errors, or Python version management. Double-click and done.

Welcome to LanWhisper installer screen

Hold or toggle hotkey

Pick the hotkey you want. Hold is nice for quick things, toggle is better when you’re talking for a while.

Connect your machines

Have a fast desktop and a slower laptop? The laptop will automatically connect to the desktop and use its GPU.

LanWhisper first-run screen asking ‘Where should LanWhisper transcribe?’ with two options: ‘On this Mac’ and ‘On the network (1 server found)’

What does LanWhisper replace?

Cloud transcription

Fast and accurate, but your audio goes to their servers. You pay monthly, forever. If you dictate something sensitive, a copy exists somewhere else.

Apps with a “local mode”

Local transcription is an afterthought, not the reason it exists. Your slow laptop won’t auto-discover your gaming GPU on the network and use it.

DIY

Clone a repo, debug dependency conflicts, wire up a hotkey yourself, juggle IP addresses...

Try it for free.

No account needed. No subscription. Just download and run.
